Man doesn’t live by mountains alone. Sometimes, you just need to escape the wilderness and drop by the city. Today, it was a quick trip to Wrocław for a coffee with my good friend Patryk – a talented composer for games and films. We met in his cozy studio, where between sips of coffee, we dove into conversations about his latest projects and creative plans.

Patryk isn’t just a composer; he’s also the creator of virtual instruments available at [**sonicatoms.com**](https://sonicatoms.com/) His passion for sound and innovation is truly inspiring.

As always, time flew by too fast. We barely scratched the surface of everything we wanted to discuss, but I’m already looking forward to our next session in the recording studio, where Patryk is working on something really exciting. More details coming soon!

You can also find his music on [**Spotify**](https://open.spotify.com/artist/0Fni4pCfrEfXXfuTBwRhPI), so if you're into cinematic and game soundtracks, it’s definitely worth a listen!

a quick coffee and musical inspiration

Up here in the mountains, winter mornings bring a familiar sight — Horvat, the black cat, lurking in the woodshed. He hides between the stacked logs, eyes locked on the bird feeder just outside.

Horvat isn’t a local. He came from Croatia, a stray picked up by my neighbors during their summer trip. Now, he rules these snowy slopes like he’s always belonged.

There’s something about him — something ancient and mysterious. His black fur, his silent presence, and the way his green eyes glint in the dim light remind me of the old stories of Dracula. After all, wasn’t Dracula a foreigner who crossed borders, too?

Horvat doesn’t make a sound, just watches. Waiting. King of the woodshed. Hunter of the mountain birds.
Perhaps a little _Dracul_ in his blood, too.

The air was cold, and the ground crunched under my feet as I walked. I drove to Lake Bystrzyckie to check if the water level was rising. The dam is finally repaired, and the water is slowly returning, filling the empty basin. The quiet was broken only by the wind, and the winter landscape felt still.

#### Today, despite the frosty weather, I stepped outside to capture a few frames of the first frozen, frosty morning to test out the simulation of the famous Agfacolor film from the 1940s. My Fuji camera and RAW files gave me the opportunity for precise editing, and in post-production, I applied an effect inspired by this historic film emulsion.

#### Agfacolor – a pioneering color technology from World War II – introduced completely new, vibrant colors, different from other color methods like the popular Technicolor in the USA. Agfacolor allowed for a three-layer emulsion effect, giving photos depth and color intensity. That’s why, as a lover of the cinematic look, I felt it was worth checking how these unique colors would work in my photography.

#### The history of Agfacolor is equally fascinating – after the war, this technology became the basis for further innovations by Kodak, which used the acquired knowledge to develop its own color systems, further revolutionizing color photography.

#### The result? Judge for yourselves. The shots gained depth and a slightly nostalgic atmosphere that evokes classic films.

# A Birthday Surprise: A Tree from My Neighbors

The other day, I came home to the most unexpected gift: a tree, freshly planted in my yard. My neighbors—amazing, thoughtful people—had done it all while I was away. They didn’t just give me a gift; they left a living reminder of friendship, a symbol of time and shared connection.

When I thanked them, Mrs. Ewa, always wise with her words, said, **_“One day, we won’t be here, but this tree will be.”_** A statement so simple, yet so profound. The tree will grow as a testament to their presence and friendship, a piece of them rooted right here, carrying its own story already.

It’s one of those moments that makes you feel deeply connected to where you are and who you’re with. I love it here. It feels alive; it feels like home.

As Seneca once said, **_“Life is long, if you know how to use it.”_** This tree is a gentle reminder of that truth. It will grow, season after season, a reminder of lives lived well and friendships that endure.

# The Beauty of Helping Hands

In the city, you often feel lonely amidst the crowd. Here, in the mountains, you know you can rely on someone. There’s something primal, something real about living in harmony with nature and the people around you. Everyone knows their place and capabilities, but most importantly, everyone is ready to lend a hand when needed.

The mountains teach simplicity, humility, and how important those small, everyday moments are that shape our lives.

The wall by our small mountain church was damaged by the recent flood. Instead of waiting for outside help, the villagers spontaneously decided to fix it. Without grand plans or formalities – they just took up their tools and got to work.

When the mountains are your home, you learn that no one is left alone.

Every gesture of help has tremendous value.

The Beauty of Helping Hands

I saw Fantasia again today, this time on a walk through the fog. There she was, standing in the field, gently swaying her head. The sight of her emerging from the thick, milky mist felt like something out of a fairytale. I was happy to see her, but at the same time, a wave of sadness washed over me. This time, she was tethered by a chain.

Even as I write this, something inside me rebels against the idea. Should animals really be kept on a leash like that? Such a beautiful, free-spirited creature deserves freedom, not confinement. Of course, I had apples for her—like always. But even those sweet gifts can’t make up for the loss of freedom.
